How to Design a Teck Deck

You can find Tech Decks in stores that feature the same images famous skateboarders use on their standard-sized skateboards. Rather than using a deck designed by someone else, you can design your own Tech Deck fingerboard to suit your personal style. Because Tech Decks are miniature skateboards, all of the same customization options are available--from deck images and grip tape to wheel color and design. After you've created a custom deck, you can show off to your fellow fingerboarders.

Instructions

    • 1

Download pictures you want to use for your Tech Deck onto your computer. You can find royalty-free images online or create them yourself using a free drawing program like MS Paint or Paintbrush.

    • 2

Open a drawing program and load your images. Resize any image so that it fits your Tech Deck measurements of 3.5 inches by 1 inch.

    • 3

Print out the image onto sticker paper. Cut off any excess paper. Peel off the backing of the sticker paper and apply your image onto the bottom of your deck. Cut along the edges with a razor blade to remove any extra bits of the sticker.

    • 4

Cut a piece of grip tape so that it measures 3.5 inches by 1 inch. The tape can be any color you want for your deck.

    • 5

Turn the grip tape over so you have access to the paper backing. Draw shapes on the backing with a pencil. These can include swirls, stars, faces or any other design.

    • 6

Place the grip tape on a hard surface such as concrete and cut around the shapes with a razor blade.

    • 7

Peel the backing of the grip tape off the shapes and the leftover grip tape. You can either place the shapes onto the top of your deck or use the leftover grip tape with the holes to cover the deck.

    • 8

Choose different colored wheels for your deck. You can purchase colored wheels separately or remove them from old decks.

    • 9

Add any decorations onto the wheels using a fine-tipped paint marker. Avoid covering the entire wheel as it may impede movement.

    • 10

Attach the wheels onto your Tech Deck trucks and then screw the trucks onto your deck using the Tech Deck tool.
