Instructions
Repair a Slipped Chain
Take the cuckoo clock off of the wall and set it face down on a table or desk.
Place a twist tie around all of the chains, except the one that came off. The twist tie should be at the base of the clock. This will prevent the other chains from coming off the gears.
Remove the back of the clock, or open the back door, to expose the gears.
Turn the clock upside down to provide some slack for the chain you need to put back on the gear.
Make a loop with the chain and position the chain back on the gear sprocket. It may take more than one attempt to get the chain on the gear sprocket.
Turn the clock right side up and replace the back or close the door.
Remove the twist tie and then re-hang the clock to see if it is working properly.
Fix a Stuck Cuckoo Bird
Examine the shipping latch that is above the cuckoo door. Open the latch if it is shut or closed. If the latch is shut or closed the cuckoo door will not open.
Find the night shutoff feature for the clock. This feature can be a lever or a loop that is on the left side or the bottom of the clock.
Turn off the night shutoff feature if it is turned on. Pull down on the lever or loop to turn off the shutoff feature and see if the cuckoo will now come out of the clock.
