Instructions for Marshmallow Guns

While expensive toy guns use specialized ammunition that can get lost and is hard to replace, inexpensive marshmallow shooters can be made easily at home. These fun, air powered toy weapons can be made with PVC pipe for about $3 per gun. Marshmallow shooters are powered with your own breath and use inexpensive mini marshmallows. You can create an armory of these toys to equip the whole block for war games.

Things You'll Need

  • 38-inch PVC pipe, 1/2-inch diameter
  • Ruler or tape measure
  • Hacksaw
  • Two PVC elbow bend pipes
  • Two T-shaped PVC connectors
  • Two PVC end caps
  • Mini marshmallows

Instructions

    • 1

Measure and mark the length of pipe 8 inches from the end.

    • 2

Continue measuring and marking at 5-inch intervals for a total of five times. This should take up the whole length of the pipe.

    • 3

Cut the pipe at the marks using the hacksaw. This should leave six lengths of 5-inch pipe and one length of 8-inch pipe.

    • 4

Fit the 8-inch length of pipe into one of the horizontal openings of a T-shaped connector.

    • 5

Insert 5-inch lengths of pipe into both of the other openings on the T-shaped connector. This will fill the T-shaped connector. The 8-inch length of pipe will be the barrel of the gun, while the 5-inch length protruding from the bottom of the T-shaped connector will be a handle.

    • 6

Place a cap on the bottom of the handle.

    • 7

Put another T-shaped connector on the 5-inch length of pipe protruding away from the barrel. Face the vertical opening in the opposite direction of the first T-shaped connector (pointing up rather than down).

    • 8

Fit 5-inch lengths of pipe into all the openings on the second T-shaped connector.

    • 9

Connect one elbow connector onto the length facing away from the handle and the barrel. Then connect a 5-inch length of pipe into the open end of the elbow connector.

    • 10

Connect the other elbow connector onto the 5" length of pipe opposite the barrel facing down, or toward the handle. This will be a stability handle.

    • 11

Cap the second handle. You now have a marshmallow gun. It should have two handles with caps with a blow pipe on top and an 8-inch barrel.

    • 12

Load a marshmallow by putting the marshmallow in the blow pipe on the top. Blow quickly and forcefully through the blow pipe to fire the marshmallow.
