How to Install String on a Yomega Yo-yo

Yomega is a toy company founded in 1983 that designs and manufacturers skill-based toys. Its toy line includes yo-yos designed to make it easy for you to perform tricks. Using your yo-yo wears down the string, which can reduce the yo-yo's responsiveness. When your yo-yo's string becomes worn remove it and replace it with a new string. You can purchase replacement strings through Yomega. Installing a new string takes only a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Unwind the old string and grasp it near where it connects to the yo-yo. The string is composed of two smaller threads. Twist it to unwind the threads, then detach the string from the yo-yo.

    • 2

Measure the new piece of string. It should run from your waist to the ground. Cut the string to the correct length.

    • 3

Twist the bottom of the string to unwind it and enlarge the loop at the end. Slide the loop onto the yo-yo, then twist the string to tighten it.

    • 4

Tie a loop at the top of the string, large enough for the yo-yo to pass through. Put the yo-yo through the loop to create a slip knot which you can use to hold the yo-yo on your finger.
