How to Clean a LEGO Robot

Legos are colorful plastic toys available in a variety of sizes and shapes. Each Lego piece has special posts that snap into holes on other Lego pieces. By inserting the posts into the holes, users can attach large numbers of blocks to build intricate Lego designs, such as a robot. Just as with all other toys, Lego components should be cleaned periodically to remove germs, viruses and bacteria that accumulate on the surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a sink with hot water and add 1 to 2 tsp. of liquid dish soap. The temperature of the water should be no higher than 104 degrees Fahrenheit so as not to damage the Lego pieces.

    • 2

Place the Lego robot into the sink and wash it gently using a sponge or cloth. Do not rub very hard, as you may dislodge some of the small pieces.

    • 3

Drain the sink and rinse the Lego robot in clean water to remove the soap residue.

    • 4

Dry the robot gently with a towel to remove as much moisture as possible. A chamois absorbent towel works best because it will draw moisture out of the tight crevices of the robot.

    • 5

Set the robot in an area with good air circulation to continue air-drying.

    • 6

Pour 1 to 2 tbsp. of rubbing alcohol onto a clean, dry cloth and wipe the entire surface of the robot to kill any remaining germs, viruses and bacteria. Allow the robot to dry for one to two minutes.
