How to Make a Tech Deck Tool

Think of your Tech Deck as a miniature skateboard. You can customize the Tech Deck with new wheels, just as you might customize your skateboard. New wheels make new tricks possible. The official Tech Deck Tool, which resembles a small socket wrench, is the easiest way to remove small nuts from the deck and replace your wheels. However, the tool is easy to lose. If you misplace yours, here's how to create a makeshift tool for the same purpose.

Things You'll Need

Old ballpoint pen (plastic)
Matches
Candle
Tech Deck

Instructions

  Work outside or in a well-ventilated area. Remove the ink cartridge and any metal tip from the plastic pen.

  The candle should be large enough to stand on its own or placed in a stable holder. Light it with a match, and allow it to burn for a few seconds.

  Place the tip of the plastic pen casing over the flame. Hold it there until the plastic begins to soften. Remove the casing from the flame before it begins to melt or drip, because hot plastic can be dangerous.

  Press the softened tip into the bottom of your Tech Deck truck, where the nut is located. Apply light pressure to the pen so the plastic molds itself around the nut.

  Remove the casing from the deck and allow it to harden. The tip of the pen is now shaped to fit the nut of the Tech Deck.

  Loosen and remove nuts by using the hardened tip of the pen casing. You can use your homemade tool until you purchase another official one.
