Things You'll Need
Instructions
Gather together the Tech Decks that you already own as well as those of your friends. The more Tech Decks you can find, the easier it will be to find the best Tech Deck for you.
Test the grip on each deck. Place your index and middle finger on the deck and run it along a flat surface. Make sharp turns and perform tricks. If you find your fingers slipping on a particular type, you want to take it out of the running. For example, you may notice that Darkstar Tech Deck has less grip than the Element branded deck.
Perform ollies, nollies and flips on the decks. Note how each deck handles. Run the decks around an obstacle course to test handling as well. You may find that while the Birdhouse branded board works best as a trick board, the DGK board flips well over obstacles.
Narrow down the available boards to the best overall branded deck. This will be the basis for the best deck.
Visit a Tech Deck retailer such as a toy store or an online site. Purchase the Tech Deck in the brand you've found to best match your abilities. Purchase additional wheels and grip tape for the deck.
Assemble the deck using the additional parts you've purchased. Test the wheels of the deck and tighten or loosen them with the Tech Deck tool.
Attach additional grip tape to the deck where you see fit. For example, you may have purchased the Darkstar brand because of its handling and tricking capabilities. You can make up for its grip deficiencies by adding tape to the areas your fingers touch the most.
Test your Tech Deck out. You should find that you have purchased and built the best Tech Deck available and can easily take on your friends in a trick run.
