Things You'll Need
Instructions
Decide on the image you wish to create. You can use a photograph of your family, images of a city, or a landscape photo of a forest. Enlarge and print out the picture to better see the details that you will be transforming into LEGOs.
Copy the image onto graph paper. You can do this by hand or print the image from a computer onto the special paper. The grid will help you determine the types of bricks you need for the image.
Write up a list of every color that appears in the picture. LEGOs are available in multiple colors and shades so be specific with your coloring. You may need two different shades of tan for the wet and dry sand of a beach, for instance.
Gather together the bricks needed for the image. Use LEGO bricks instead of other pieces as the bricks come in multiple sizes such as one by two, one by eight, two by 10, and so on. The image will be created using the colors on the sides of the bricks.
Begin piecing together the bricks for your image. Start with the bottom of the image and work your way up. For example, if you're creating a forest, the bottom row might be green and brown bricks representing the grass and beginning of trees.
Work your way up up the image. Use smaller bricks for more detailed areas and large bricks for solid patches of color. If you're creating an image of trees in the fall, you can combine one-by-one bricks of multiple colors such as red, orange and yellow to create the leaves of the trees.
Adjust the bricks you are using as you create the image. You may find that adding too much detail is resulting in a very large LEGO creation, while too small of a creation will lack necessary features of your intended image.
Cap your image off with a border of solid colored LEGOs.
