How to Build a Spring Powered Dart Gun

Lay some newspaper down on a table. Unscrew the plastic pen. Put the spring that was inside of the plastic pen onto the newspaper. Discard the disassembled parts of the pen except for the barrel.

Cut the barrel of the pen about halfway down its length using the scissors. Use the needle nosed pliers to squeeze one end of the shorter half of the barrel so that it is smaller than the other end.

Squeeze the sides of the paper clip together using the needle nosed pliers.

Insert the end of the paper clip into the end of the spring and slide it on so that it is hooked around the first link of the spring.

Slide the spring down into the the squeezed end of the shorter half of the barrel that was cut. Use the needle nosed pliers to bend the other end of the barrel so that it is closed.

Place the end of the barrel that has the spring inside of it into one end of the other half of the barrel that was cut. Wrap cellophane tape around the seam between the two halves to help hold them together.

Insert the dart into the open end of the barrel. Push the dart down into the barrel using a straw as far down as it will go against the spring inside. Hold the straw so that the dart doesn̵7;t move.

Insert the push pin into the barrel just in front of the dart. Remove the straw.

Aim the open end of the spring powered dart gun you have made at a far wall. Pull out the push pin to fire the dart.
