Instructions

    • 1

Remove any cards in the DS and unscrew the single screw that holds the battery cover in place. Don't try to remove this screw from the battery cover, simply remove the battery cover and screw as one piece and then remove the battery.

    • 2

Remove the two rubber pieces next to the L button and the R button.

    • 3

Remove all screws on the bottom of the DS, including the black screw in slot 1. Do not remove the screw that was directly under the battery. Put the screws in a cup to keep them from being lost.

    • 4

Gently pry off the bottom cover. Be careful that the springs under any buttons don't fly off. These springs are small and can be very hard to find. Be careful that other components, like the volume slider, don't fall off and get lost.

    • 5

Remove the buttons and sliders, making a note of the required re-assembly order. Place the buttons, sliders and springs in a cup.

    • 6

Lift up the flap that holds the touch screen connector in place and remove the cable. If you can't identify the flap, visually follow the touch screen connector from the screen to the location where it connects to the board. Be careful, this flap can break off if you apply too much pressure.

    • 7

Pull the bottom board away from the case. Depending on the type of DS you have, you may have between one and three catches that need to be released. Use a small screwdriver or a fingernail to release these catches.

    • 8

Remove the screens by prying them away from the double-stick tape holding them in place. If your replacement screen didn't come with a new cable, be very careful not to damage the cable.

    • 9

Install the new touch screen by sticking it in place of the old screen and reversing the disassembly process.
