Fake DVD
Look for a banner at the top of the package that says Digital Surround Sound. Authentic Disney DVD movies to not have this type of banner on the front of the package.
Look for a DVD9 logo on the front of the package. This logo is for a dual layer disc and is not displayed on an authentic Disney DVD movie.
Read the description on the DVD package for information about subtitles. If you see a reference to Chinese subtitles or there is a Chinese language track on the DVD, it is probably a fake.
Find out if a move is supposed to be a two-disc set or sold as a single disc. Disney movies, such as The Lion King, have only been released as a two-disc set. If you find one that is a single disk, it is most likely a fake.
Fake Merchandise
Find the certificate of authenticity for the item. Most Disney toys and collectibles include a certificate of authenticity as proof that the item is genuine.
See if the seller of the merchandise offers a return policy. If no return policy is offered, it is a red flag that something might be wrong.
Look at the pictures that are being provided for the item. If there are no pictures available or they are of poor quality, the item may be suspect.
