Put a newspaper down on a work surface. Put the Nerf pistol down on the newspaper with the side with the screws facing up. Remove all the screws using the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the screw from the battery compartment at the bottom. Remove the batteries and put them aside. Put all the screws aside.
Remove the top shell from the bottom shell of the Nerf pistol. Put the top shell aside. Take the digital camera and shoot a photo of the bottom shell of the Nerf pistol with all of the components still in place. Use this photo to help you reassemble the Nerf pistol back together later.
Remove the three-prong air restrictor and the spring lying behind it. Discard them. Cut out the center of the restrictor wheel using the utility knife.
Remove the spring and plunger assembly from the bottom shell of the Nerf pistol. Unscrew the small head screw in the plunger head using the Phillips screwdriver.
Enlarge the hole in the plunger head, and in the hole in the end of the plunger rod using the portable drill. Reassemble the plunger assembly, but use the1spring in place of the original spring.
Place the 3-mm nut into the groove in the bottom shell of the Nerf pistol where the plunger assembly was removed. Place the plunger assembly back into position on the bottom shell of the Nerf pistol. Put the M3 washer on the M3 screw, then screw the M3 screw through the plunger head and into the nut. Turn the nut to tighten the screw.
Take the plastic barrel and, using a utility knife, cut it about a third from the end that has a round ring.
Use the hot glue gun to glue the cut end of the barrel with the round ring facing out to one end of the CPVC steel pipe fitting. Let the glue cool. Sandpaper the seam where the pipe and the barrel meet until it is smooth.
Hot glue the front of the barrel to the drilled out restrictor. Glue the restrictor to the bottom shell of the Nerf pistol back into its original position. Reassemble the Nerf pistol, the screw in the screws. Put in the batteries and screw the battery compartment back on.
Put a Nerf dart into the barrel of the Nerf pistol. Aim at a distant target and press the trigger.
