How to Lift a Newspaper Image With Silly Putty

A ball of strange matter could be your new favorite toy, stress reliever or boredom-saver. Silly Putty has been around for over 50 years, making children and adults alike laugh; wondering how it does so many things, from bouncing like a rubber ball, to popping like bubble gum and, of course, taking newspaper print right off of newspapers. It's easy to have fun with Silly Putty.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the Silly Putty out of its plastic egg container. Roll the putty up into a ball.

    • 2

Keep rolling the putty with your hands until it is pretty smooth. Continue rolling the putty on a smooth surface, like a table, for better smoothness.

    • 3

Press the putty ball flat and spread it out on that smooth surface until it is as big as the image you are going to transfer from the newspaper.

    • 4

Lift the putty off of the smooth surface and check to see if the underside of the putty is smooth and flat. If so, place it down onto the newspaper image and press firmly on the putty so that it sticks to the newspaper.

    • 5

Gently lift the flattened putty off of the newspaper image and check out the image on the smooth side of the Silly Putty. This will be the mirror image of the original newpaper image.
