The traditional stance is to place the middle finger on the tail of the board, and the index finger in the center of the board. This allows the hand to move the board forward and apply pressure to the tail for an Ollie. For Nollies, the hand is moved up the board so that the index finger rests on the front end, with the middle finger in the center of the board.
To get the board to jump without moving backwards, it is important to get up a significant amount of speed before attempting the Nollie. Use a clear space where you can develop enough speed.
As you push the board forward, press down with the index finger quickly to pop the board up off its back wheels.
As the board rises guide your hand, beginning with the middle finger, down the length to the back of the board while trying to maintain forward momentum. The hardest thing about the Nollie is to fight the desire to move with the direction of the board in the air: backwards. Slide your fingers across the board without moving your hand dramatically in the same direction.
Practice the Nollie to commit it to muscle memory. At that point, you can use it as a setup for other tricks.
