Shove It
To begin performing tricks with your Tech Deck, you'll have to first master the shove it. Start by placing the deck on a flat surface. Put your index finger on the center of the board and start your middle finger on the tail of the deck. Gently press down on the back of the board with your middle finger. As you push the board down, also work it so that it moves towards you. Keep your index finger in the center to control the board as it spins 180 degrees. Don't push too hard or the deck will flip over or shoot away from you. Keep performing this trick until you know the exact amount of pressure to exert.
Ollies and Nollies
To perform an ollie you will first want to have your fingers situated on the board in the same position as the shove it, the index finger on the middle and the middle finger at the far edge. Move the board to the side and as you do, press down with your middle finger while moving your index finger to the front of the board. This will control the board as it lifts off the surface you're tricking off of. Practice the trick by creating small barriers that you need to ollie over. As you master the trick, reverse your finger position to perform a nollie. Place your index finger on the front of the board and middle finger in the center. Move the board forward and then push down with your index finger. Your board should get height from this trick but not distance. It is a great way to end a trick run.
The Slide
Once you have mastered the ollie, you can use it to perform this basic trick. The slide is done using the edge of a book or stairs made for your Tech Deck. You will need to shift the board 90 degrees so that when you land, the center of your board slides down the railing of the stairs. Keep your fingers on the board during the slide so you can continue to move the deck after the trick. As you master this trick, perform a nose slide by landing the ollie with the nose of your Tech Deck on the railing. Keep pressure on the nose so the deck remains on the railing for the entire slide.
