How to Make a Toy Rocket

Science has served to advance our understanding of the world, leading to the discoveries of medicines and exploration of unknown environments. Since the advent of NASA and the space program in the early 1950s, men, women and children of all ages have been enthralled by the machines that allow astronauts to travel through outer space. A toy rocket is an easy craft project that can help fuel a child's imagination.

Instructions

    • 1

Warm up the glue gun with the damp cloth underneath it to prevent damage to the work surface. Use the red paint to color the plastic top and set aside to dry. Take four small tubes and squash one end of each tube. Once the glue is ready, seal the squashed ends shut and set aside to dry.

    • 2

Use the electrical tape to attach the large paper tube to one unsquashed small tube. You may have to squash the end of the large tube for a proper fit. Tape the last unsquashed tube to the end of the other small tube. You should now have a three-sectioned tower.

    • 3

Cut and glue paper strips to the tower so that the entire rocket will be covered in white paper. Cut paper strips and glue them to each of the squashed end tubes. Allow to dry.

    • 4

Attach the plastic top to the top end of the rocket with glue. Allow to dry completely. Glue each of the four squashed end tubes to the base of the large tube to create "boosters." Allow to dry.

    • 5

Use the adhesive letters/numbers to add ID numbers to the base of the rocket, if desired.
