Instructions for the Tekno Robotic Puppy

Tekno the Robotic Puppy is an interactive robotic puppy that has been programmed to respond like an 8-month-old puppy. Tekno can also be programmed to perform fun and exciting tricks that are sure to entertain children. With the help of an adult, learning to program and use Tekno is simple.
  1. Initializing Setup

    • To begin the setup process for your Tekno Robotic Puppy, remove Tekno from his packaging and then untie any plastic straps restraining Tekno. Locate the tab on Tekno's side and remove it to initiate his program setup.

    Understanding Tekno's Programming

    • Tekno the Robotic Puppy is designed to respond to stimuli like any other 8-month-old puppy. This means that even after you program Tekno, he may not always respond the way you hope. Petting Tekno, as well as feeding him regularly, will allow you to better "bond" with him and increase the likelihood that he will obey your commands.

    Sensors and Touch Inputs

    • Tekno's body is covered with sensors and touch inputs to help Tekno better understand your interaction with him. Tekno's "Light Sensor" is located between Tekno's eyes and is used to understand changes in light levels. The "Sound Sensor," located inside Tekno's head, helps Tekno respond to noises and voices. Located in Tekno's mouth, the "Mouth Sensor" can be pressed to let Tekno know he's being fed.

Tekno's "Nose Sensor" has a dual purpose; it can be pressed to cause Tekno to make a sniffing sound, and it also causes Tekno's motor controls to be switched off when he runs into walls or other objects. Located on the top of his head, Tekno's "Head Sensor" can be be patted to make Tekno happily wag his tail. Tekno's "Neck Sensor," located on the back of the neck, can be stimulated to make Tekno think you are scratching him behind the ears.

Use Tekno's "Mode" button to program him to perform tricks. To reset Tekno's programming to factory settings, press the "Reset" button.

    Performing Tricks

    • You can program Tekno the Robotic Puppy to perform exciting tricks. To teach Tekno to bark on command, press and hold his "Head Sensor" for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Clap your hands to get Tekno to perform the trick and pat him on the head when you're ready for him to stop. Teach Tekno to fetch by pressing and holding his "Neck Sensor" for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Yell Tekno's name to make him perform the trick, and when you want him to stop, pat him on the head.

Teach Tekno to howl by pressing and holding the "Mode" button and "Head Sensor" for 3 seconds until Tekno beeps four times. Press the "Head Sensor" again to confirm. Cover Tekno's eyes to get him to howl, and press and hold the "Mode" button and "Head Sensor" for 3 seconds to stop Tekno from howling.
