How to Pick a Diary Lock

If your child has lost the keys to her diary, you can cheer her up by picking the lock for her. This lockpicking method is so easy, she may even be able to get the lock open by herself. This method should not be used to pick the lock of your child's diary without her permission.

Instructions

    • 1

Bend one paper clip into a lowercase "r" shape by lifting the outer edge of the paper clip straight out at a 90-degree angle.

    • 2

Bend the other paperclip into a narrow "u" shape. Unravel the paper clip completely until it makes a straight line. Bend the line in half until the two ends of the paper clip are parallel to one another.

    • 3

Push the point of the "r" paperclip into the bottom of the keyhole. Press and gently rotate the paperclip clockwise.

    • 4

Meanwhile, insert the points of the "u" paperclip into the top of the keyhole. You should still be slightly rotating the other paperclip clockwise, and pressing it into the keyhole.

    • 5

Slowly and carefully move the paperclips back and forth, while pressing the "r" paperclip into the keyhole. As you make adjustments, the lock will pop open.
