Balloon Sword
Slip the open end of the balloon over the open end of the pump. Pump the shaft on the pump to inflate the balloon. If only one hand is available, some people hold the pump in between their knees and will move the outer cylinder of the pump instead of the shaft. Inflate any balloons that you use so that they have just a little bit of room in them at the end so that they do not pop when you twist them together. Tie off the end of the balloon by loosely wrapping the open end around your fingers in a complete loop and then inserting the end of the balloon so that it crosses over itself.
To make a balloon sword, take a long, straight balloon that is the length of your arm and is gray. This will be referred to as the first balloon.
Take a second balloon that has been inflated to the length of your forearm and twist it in the middle one time around with equal amounts of air on both sides. Tie the two ends of this second balloon to each other. Twist the second balloon so that the ends that are tied together are wrapped around the part of the balloon that is already twisted.
Double loop this over the first balloon so that it goes into only one loop, 5 inches from one end. Take the near end of the first balloon and loop it around the central twist and back through the hole it already went through. Squeeze the air out of the loop you just made on the first balloon.
Balloon Bow and Arrow
Make a balloon bow and arrow set. Inflate a straight balloon that is brown so that it is a half balloon in length. Take a gray balloon and inflate it until it is 1 foot long, but leave the loose ends. Twist the gray balloon in the middle; twist the ends of the balloon together so that there are little round spheres of air in the balloons at the very end that are 1 inch in diameter.
Hold the first twist in the gray balloon and tie it to the end of the brown balloon where the brown balloon was tied shut after inflating it. Use the free ends of the gray balloon to tie the gray balloon to the brown arrow shaft so that the gray portion remains elongated.
Inflate a full-length brown balloon and tie it off. Take another balloon of a different color (any color) and leave it un-inflated. Tie each separate end of the un-inflated balloon to each separate end of the full-length brown balloon to form the bow.
Balloon Shield
Make a balloon shield. First start with a brown balloon that you inflate and tie closed. Form the balloon into a large hoop before tying the ends of the balloon together.
Get another brown balloon (inflated) and tie it across the center of this shield so that the ends of the balloon around either end of the shield. Tie other balloons a quarter of the way in the other direction so that they cross over the first.
Get an un-inflated balloon and tie it at either end of the first balloon that you tied to the first "hoop" balloon. This loose balloon should be tight enough that it will keep the shield on your forearm. Your hand is to hold onto the edge of the balloon.
