How to Make a Staple Shooter

You can make a staple shooter in as little as five minutes. The staple shooter is covert, inexpensive, effective and easy to assemble. Whether you're interested in the mechanics of a staple shooter or simply want to create your own mini-weapon, the staple shooter is an excellent way to go. Note that while it's a relatively harmless tool, you should not aim the staple shooter at anyone in close range.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a mechanical pencil that has the led adjuster placed at the bottom and not on the side. Bic is a favored brand.

    • 2

Remove the black cap found at the tip of the pencil. You may need a rubber grip to help pull it off. Be careful not to damage anything because it's necessary to keep everything underneath the black cap intact.

    • 3

Throw the black cap away. You will not need it anymore.

    • 4

Grab a single staple and fold the prongs toward each other so that the staple is relatively straight.

    • 5

Push the bottom of the pencil in (as if you were pushing it to get more lead) and hold it there. You will notice a little ring at the tip of the pencil (sometimes gold). Move this down until it clicks and so that the two plastic prongs stick out.

    • 6

Place the unfolded staple about a third of the way into the tip of the pencil in between the two prongs.

    • 7

Aim the staple at your target (you should not aim at a person, especially if they are at close range) and pull the eraser end back until it clicks. The staple will shoot with enough force to go at least two feet.
