How to Make a Blanket Fort

No childhood is complete without the construction of a blanket fort. A blanket fort creates a new and special space for play and privacy right in your own home. There is not better place to create your blanket fort than in your bed, where you can enjoy its cozy comfort in the day or night.

Things You'll Need

Large lightweight blanket or sheet
Fort posts (chairs, mops, brooms)
String and pillows to secure the fort walls

Instructions

  Choose the largest, lightest blanket you can find to make your fort, as heavier blankets tend to break your fort and smaller blankets do not provide the room you need to play.

  Find some household items to make the corners of your fort, such as brooms, mops or even chairs. Set one item at each corner of your bed to make the four posts of your blanket fort. If using brooms and mops, you may need to tie the sticks to the legs of your bed with string to keep them secure.

  Drape your blanket evenly over each corner post so that the edges of the blanket touch the corners of the bed. If the blanket is not large enough to reach all of the edges of the bed, you can close in the walls of your fort by placing pillows along the edges.
