How to Do a Cat's Cradle in Diabolo Juggling

If you've mastered a few basic diabolo tricks, you're ready to move up to more difficult moves. The cat's cradle takes serious practice, but once you've mastered the required moves, you'll be ready to move on to even more complicated and impressive tricks.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the whip start to set the diabolo spinning very fast. Toss the diabolo to your left and catch it by bringing the string on the left down over the diabolo.

    • 2

Circle the diabolo and raise the left stick up with the arms returned to starting position. Pull the left stick to twist the string and add speed.

    • 3

Begin to make a cat's cradle by dropping the left stick a bit lower than the right, while angling the right stick slightly to your right. Bring the right stick around the left stick so the string on the right stick is behind the left stick.

    • 4

Bring the right stick back and let the right string fall over the left stick. Put the right stick under the left stick with your hands slightly apart, and you will see the X, or cat's cradle.

    • 5

Throw the spinning diabolo up from the lower string, making sure to keep the diabolo away from the cradle as you toss. Hold the sticks apart and up catch the diabolo on the cat's cradle.

    • 6

Toss the diabolo from the cat's cradle. After you make the toss, lower your arms with sticks pointing down to loosen the loops and tighten the strings to prepare to catch the diabolo.

    • 7

Catch the diablo on the string, and take a bow.
