How to Collect Digimon Toys

Digimon is a series of toys, comic books, video games and trading cards from Japan. Digimon are also known as "Digital Monsters" who inhabit a virtual world that arose from the earth's telecommunications network. You can choose to collect from a variety of Digimon toys, including static-character figures, transforming action figures and Digimon electronic-virtual pets.

Instructions

    • 1

Familiarize yourself with the various sources for Digimon toys. Digimon characters come from an array of different television programs and comic books. Often, toys from the first television season are more difficult to find and have higher resale values.

    • 2

Learn what types of Digimon toys exist. You can collect simple Digimon toys, like the action figures of characters, electronic toys and video games.

    • 3

Look for examples of the first Digimon toy ever made, which is called the Digivice Version 1. The Digivice is an electronic pet that you have to remember to care for by pressing buttons on the small toy. The original Digivices are dark blue, orange, red, green and light blue.

    • 4

Search out Digivolving figure toys that come with Digimon trading cards for your collection. Digivolving toys are action figures of Digimon characters that transform into warrior figures when you manipulate them. Choose the 5-inch versions if you want to collect the original, Japanese-made Digivolving figures.

    • 5

Collect the small Digimon character figures to save money. The 2 1/2-inch tall Digimon figures don't transform like the more expensive 5-inch versions, but each one should come with a sticker of the character.

    • 6

Buy Digimon toys that are unopened and in their original packaging. Toy collectors generally pay more money for toys that are in mint condition.

    • 7

Track down a Digimon figure set to get several Digimon toys for one price. The 1.5-inch tall Digimons from various TV shows were released in sets that include about three to six Digimon character figures per set. The season-one set may carry a higher resale value because it contains HerculesKabuterimon, the only 1 1/2-inch Digimon figure not featured on a TV show.
