Examine the Beanie Babies' fabric. The fabric should be smooth and wrinkle-free. If there are wrinkles or small tears in the fabric, it is a fake.
Look at the size of the Beanie. If it appears significantly smaller or larger than others or has components, such as ears, arms and legs, that are disproportionately larger than the body, it is not authentic.
Examine the gold foil edging around the tag. An authentic Beanie will have foiling that will maintain an even coloring all the way through. A Beanie that has gold edging that changes color or rubs off easily is not authentic.
Feel the Beanie Babies and examine the amount of stuffing. Authentic Beanie Babies are not overstuffed and will become limp. A Beanie that is overstuffed, especially in the head, is a fake.
Examine the Beanie's eyes. Many counterfeit Beanie Babies feature eyes that are larger or smaller than other Beanies or are very close together.
Look at the yellow star found on the Beanie's tag. The coloring of the star should be bright yellow. If the star is colored in a dull yellow or a different color, the Beanie is a fake.
Ask the online seller for detailed photographs of the Beanie Babies. If the seller is unwilling to provide pictures or the photos are grainy and hard to see, these are red flags that the Beanies might be fake.
