Start with one Webkinz pet to give yourself a chance to get used to the website interface and how the service works before adding multiple animals. Also, if you add the animals over a period of time, instead of all at once, you extend your Webkinz membership. Your membership lasts for one year from the date you last added a new pet. You cannot pay a fee on the website just to renew. You can only extend your membership by adopting another animal.
Open the gift box that appears in your dock after you adopt your first Webkinz, and you will find a special food and object that belongs only to your pet. As you adopt more pets into your account, you'll find bonuses included with your gift box. Visit the W Shop store from the Things To Do menu to purchase furniture and toys for your Webkinz's room, which starts off empty. The Webkinz pets can sit and sleep on furniture sold at the shop, and some toys such as scooters are interactive, but most of the items, such as dolls or footballs, are only decorative. Your first major purchase should be a bed for your Webkinz to rest in. Although nothing dreadful will happen if your pet stays awake all the time, players tend to tuck their pets into bed before logging out of the game.
Webkinz Care
Webkinz get hungry, and you can feed your pet the special dish that came in your gift box or buy more food, including that special dish, at the W Shop. Meters beneath the pet's picture tell you how hungry, happy and healthy your pet is. Usually when you feed your pet, all the meters go up. If the healthy meter is down, you can take your pet to the virtual doctor in Webkinz World by selecting "Dr. Quack's Clinic" from the Things To Do menu.
Visit your Webkinz pet at least once a day to get the daily bonuses. This will help you accumulate KinzCash, the currency of Webkinz World, faster so you can buy more items for your pets. Daily bonuses include playing the Wishing Well game, spinning the Wheel of Wow and doing a job at the Employment Office. You can also play online games to earn a few KinzCash coins. Click "Arcade" on the Things To Do menu to see the entire list. Each day one game is selected as the game of the day and will pay out additional coins to players.
Webkinz News and Activities
The main page you see when you first log in to Webkinz.com is set up like a newspaper with links to daily activities and news about what's happening in Webkinz World. Read this page for updates and use the "Webkinz Pets &Stuff" link at the top of the page to see what new pets are coming out. Some pets are virtual (with no stuffed animal counterpart), and you can purchase them online from the Webkinz.com website. You should check the Today's Activities section of the newspaper every day to see what specials are scheduled for that day. A new special is activated every hour, and they usually only last one hour. Owners of certain Webkinz pets may also receive extra bonus activities if their pet is pet of the month.
