Webkinz Clothes You Can Make Yourself

Webkinz are popular for more than just the online gaming site. Many kids and adults collect the small, stuffed toys and want clothes and accessories for their Webkinz. Clothing the little critters can cost as much as the toys themselves, so making Webkinz clothes is an excellent way to save and personalize these toys. You can knit, sew or crochet clothes for your Webkinz, or even remake and refashion clothes you have around the house into new Webkinz clothes.
  1. Knitting Webkinz Clothes

    • Knitting vests, dresses, sweaters, hats and other attire for a Webkinz is easier than you might think. Experienced knitters may be able to comfortably work without a pattern, creating simple shapes based on experience. You can also increase or decrease the size of other doll, teddy bear and toy patterns by changing the needle size and yarn weight. Keep in mind that different Webkinz have different bodies and sizes, so developing your own pattern is ideal. You might also find that patterns sized for the smallest dogs will fit a standard-size Webkinz with minimal alterations. Once you have a basic bodice pattern that fits your Webkinz well, you can add increases and continue to form a skirt, make the sweater shorter or longer, or add other details to change the look of the basic Webkinz sweater.

    Crocheting for Your Webkinz

    • Measure your Webkinz from wrist to wrist, across the arm and across the chest. Crochet a simple sweater by working several rows of half-double crochet, or you can double crochet the measurement of your Webkinz from wrist to wrist. Once your sleeve is a suitable width, slip several stitches to return to the shoulder point. Continue working in half-double crochet or double crochet to the opposite shoulder, then turn. Work until the body of the sweater is a suitable length. Make the back of your sweater in the same way and seam. Choose a lightweight yarn for the best result. If desired, increase just below the armpit to create a dress instead of a sweater.

    Sewing Patterns

    • If you have purchased Webkinz clothes, you can trace the basic bodice shape to sew your own clothes for your Webkinz. Drafting a Webkinz sewing pattern is not hard. Simply lay your Webkinz on a piece of muslin fabric. Use a fabric marker to trace the approximate shape of the toy's chest and shoulders. Cut out, leaving a generous seam allowance and stitch two together, opening one side. Try on and adjust your pattern as needed to create a good fit. Use this basic pattern to create shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and dresses for your Webkinz. You can also opt to purchase Webkinz patterns or purchase patterns designed for small dogs for more variety in your Webkinz wardrobe.

    Accessories

    • Make tiny bags, simple knit or crocheted scarves, and hats to add personality to any Webkinz. Webkinz accessories can be made of felt, yarn or fabric. Doll accessory patterns will often work quite well for Webkinz, but may need to be sized down slightly.
