How Do You Blow Up a Water Balloon?

Playing with water balloons is fun during the summertime. If you don't have a pool, it's also a great way to cool off on hot, humid days. Blowing up water balloons can be easy or hard, depending on the kind of balloons you use. The small, inexpensive water balloons do not always expand as you fill them with water. You can stretch the latex a little more by blowing the balloon up with air prior to filling it with water.

  Stretch the balloon from top to bottom and side to side. This will help the latex soften and expand before you even start to blow up the balloon.

  Blow into the balloon while stretching it just a bit. Use small puffs of air. If the balloon is extremely small, it may not work; a pump is needed.

  Slide the open side of the balloon over the nozzle of the balloon air pump. Pump several times to fill the balloon with air. Do not overfill, as that will cause the balloon to pop.

  Let the air out and proceed to fill with water.
