How to Find a Hole in an Inflatable Pool

Just when you and your family are about to take a dip in your inflatable pool, you notice that the sides are starting to sag. This is most likely attributed to a small hole that is leaking air. Obviously, if the sides become too soft, the pool will eventually collapse and ruin your fun-in-the-sun plans. Detect holes in an inflatable pool before filling it with water to avoid this mishap. Holes are easily detected, but it may take some extra help when trying to locate the tiny hole.

Things You'll Need

Air compressor or pool inflator/deflator
Spray bottles
Dish soap
Towel
Masking or duct tape

Instructions

  Inflate the pool with air using an air compressor or pool inflator. Ensure the pool is taut with air.

  Fill a few spray bottles with a solution of 90 percent water and 10 percent dish soap. Mix well.

  Spray the inflated parts of the pool. Make sure to stay relatively quiet, listening for air leaks.

  Look for bubbles at the plastic surface of the pool while spraying. In an area that has a hole, you will see bubbles rising from the surface as the air pushes the soap through the hole. This is similar to when people blow bubbles through a bubble wand.

  Dry the area around the hole and place a piece of masking or duct tape over it so it can be easily found again.
