How to Test an Inflatable Pool Ring for Leaks

Inflatable pool rings are a fun summer toy for all ages. However, they tend to become damaged rather easily. The slightest leak will render a pool ring virtually useless. If you've had your pool toys stored away during the winter months, it's a good idea to test them for damage before using them again. You can test inflatable pool rings for leaks in a few simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a leak-finding concoction. Mix a few drops of liquid soap and water in a spray bottle. Replace the cap, and shake it up to make a sudsy solution.

    • 2

Inflate the pool ring completely. You might want to do this outdoors or in a garage, since you will be using a spray bottle of soap and water next.

    • 3

Spray the inflated pool ring thoroughly with the soapy solution. If there is a leak, the air escaping from the pool ring will cause soap bubbles to form. You also might hear a high-pitched squeal coming directly from the leak.

    • 4

Isolate the site of the leak, and patch it when it is completely dry.
