Things You'll Need
Instructions
Initial Setup
Build or inflate your kiddie pool. All kiddie pools are installed by the owner, according to Pool Solutions. Kiddie pools range in size and are made of many different materials, including inflatable plastic and hard plastic.
Fill the pool with water to the desired level.
Allow kids to play in the pool of water. Leaving the water in the pool for a couple of days is perfectly fine. Due to the pool's lack of filtration, however, leaving the same water in the kiddie pool for more than two to three days is not recommended.
Cleaning the Kiddie Pool
Drain the water out of the kiddie pool. If this is not done after each use, then certainly drain it after a few days. According to Pool Solutions, lack of draining and cleaning causes algae and biofilm, which form bacteria, leading to an unhealthy play area for children and possibly causing health problems.
Clean the pool with either bathroom cleaner or bleach. Scrub the inside perimeter of the pool to get rid of algae or bacteria.
Rinse the pool. Get rid of all cleansers completely. Children can have more sensitive skin than adults, and so leaving chemicals behind can be harmful.
Refill the kiddie pool with fresh water.
Storing for a Season
Drain the pool's water and cleanse as you would during a regular water change.
Allow the pool to dry completely before storing. Storing the pool before it has dried completely promotes bacteria and mold growth.
Store the pool in a safe place, away from the reach of small children and animals. According to InflatablePoolShop.com, your pool can be used over and over again when it is stored properly.
