Things You'll Need
Instructions
Find a dense piece of Styrofoam. Styrofoam a few inches thick works especially well when creating Styrofoam kickboards.
Cut the Styrofoam to your desired size with a raft knife. Kickboards intended for adults should be bigger in width and length than those intended for children. Make widths wider than the body of the person for whom the kickboard is intended and lengths about the size of the top half of the body. After it's cut, the kickboard should look like a rectangle.
Detail your kickboard's shape. Make the kickboard into a standard one by slightly curving the top and bottom parts of it with your craft knife. You could also cut your kickboard into the shape of an animal like a fish, turtle or penguin.
Decorate your kickboard. Use non-toxic waterproof markers or paints to personalize your kickboard with designs or to define animal features.
Allow your Styrofoam kickboard to dry for at least 24 hours before using it in the water.
