How to Fluff Out Stuffed Animal Hair After Washing

A stuffed animal can often be a child's best friend. When that friend becomes dirty or soiled, it is important to wash and dry the stuffed animal with care so the appearance is not altered. Maintaining the appearance of a stuffed animal can give it a longer life. It is also a great way to show a child you care for him.

Instructions

Wash a soiled or smelly stuffed animal in the washing machine only as a last resort. The washing machine cycle could damage or distort the animal's shape. Some material is not amendable to washing machines, so check the tag before washing. If possible, use a sponge and household cleaner to wash the stuffed animal instead of a machine.

Dry the stuffed animal with a towel first to remove all excess moisture. Apply firm pressure with the towel to soak up the water. You can rub the stuffed animal gently with the towel to begin to fluff the fur.

    • 3

Use a hair dryer to dry the stuffed animal for the best results. Use a low heat setting. Hold the dryer a few inches away from the stuffed animal so the heat does not become too intense, as the fur could be flammable. Gently move the dryer back and forth across the stuffed animal's fur. Once it begins to dry, you can use your fingers to fluff the fur for the desired look.
