Things You'll Need
Instructions
Vacuum the plushie using a brush attachment. The vacuum will be able to remove loose or stuck-on lint such as hair and dust bunnies with minimal work. Vacuums that do not have a brush attachment can simply use the hose to work over the plushie and remove as much lint as possible.
Brush the plushie, going in the opposite direction as the fur, with a bristle brush. This will raise the fur and help loosen any lint that was missed after the first vacuuming. Once the fur is brushed and slightly raised, vacuum the plushie again to remove the extra lint.
Roll a lint brush across the plushie to remove the lint. Plushies that have longer fur may have a harder time releasing the lint onto a lint brush; However, plushies with short fur will benefit greatly with a rolling lint brush.
Place the plushie in an empty pillowcase and tie the opening closed. Wash the plushie on the regular cycle completely. Do not wash the plushie if it contains a music box, unless the music box can be removed.
Hand-wash plushies that contain music boxes, so you do not ruin the interior components. Use warm soapy water and a washcloth to clean the exterior of the plushie.
Remove the animal from the pillowcase and allow drying completely. The washing will remove any dirt that has settled onto the plushie. Brush and vacuum the plushie once more, to ensure all lint is removed from the exterior of the plushie.
