How to Tie a Teddy Bear Handkerchief

Tying a handkerchief around the neck of a teddy bear adds to the stuffed animal's appearance and outfit. Kids can collect different colors or designs of handkerchiefs to accent the teddy bear's outfit and to play dress-up with the toy. Use a simple folding technique and double knot the hankie at the back of the neck to secure it in place on your teddy bear.

Instructions

    • 1

Iron the teddy bear handkerchief to eliminate wrinkles. Place the handkerchief on a flat surface so that it appears as a square.

    • 2

Take the top left corner of the square handkerchief and fold it toward the bottom right corner of the square to create a triangle. Press down the fold to create a crease.

    • 3

Place the handkerchief around the neck of the teddy bear so that the large part of the triangle is facing front and the bottom angle faces downward toward the teddy bear's belly.

    • 4

Pull the left and right sides of the handkerchief around the neck of the teddy bear in the nape of the teddy bear's neck. Cross the ends of the handkerchief diagonally to make a loop. Pull the the right end of the handkerchief under and through the loop.

    • 5

Pull both ends in a diagonal direction to tighten the knot. Repeat the process to make a loose double knot so that the handkerchief remains secure, yet is not difficult to remove.
