SAFE
Stuffed Animals for Emergencies (SAFE) is a non-profit organization that collects stuffed animals and other toys, and donates them to children who have suffered tragic situations such as abuse, homelessness, fires, or weather-related disasters such as tornadoes and earthquakes. The charity has chapters all over the country, operating in Houston through Feed the Children. Instructions on how to clean old stuffed animals, how and where to donate, and local chapter information can be found on the website listed in Resources.
Local Thrift Shops
Local thrift stores such as Goodwill and The Salvation Army accept stuffed animals as donations. They sell these in their stores and then use the money charitably. Both have locations throughout Southeast Texas.
Shelters
Homeless shelters and women's shelters take in a number of children as well as adults, and are often happy to take donations for them. Family Services of Southeast Texas, which runs a women's and children's shelter, also partners with thrift shops in Beaumont and Woodville to take donations and raise money for its charitable operations.
Local Donation Centers
Contact local hospitals, police stations, and churches. In some towns, local hospitals, police stations, and churches have their own toy donations programs, so call around and ask. If they do not, they will likely have more suggestions as to where you might donate them locally.
