Every child loves teddy bears, and as a result many famous bears have emerged in popular culture based on books, TV shows, games and legend. Some of these famous teddy bears have gone on to be much more than just a stuffed animal and are actually some of the most instantly recognizable figures from the big screen.
  1. Winnie the Pooh

    • Created by author and playwright A.A Milne, Winnie the Pooh is one of the most famous teddy bears in the world and has featured in several Disney film adaptations. The bear is so famous that Queen Elizabeth II of England even invited him to her 80th birthday celebrations at Buckingham palace. It is said that Disney artists drew over 100,000 drawings before perfecting Pooh bear and the other characters in the story.

The first Paddington Bear soft toy was created in 1972 by Gabrielle Designs.

    Rupert Bear

    • Another popular bear is Rupert the Bear, created by the English artist Mary Tourtel which was first featured in a British newspaper in 1920. To this day, various artists have continued to keep Rupert alive and his popularity in the UK in particular has never waned, with the same newspaper -- The Daily Express -- still printing Rupert the Bear comic strips to this day.

    Yogi Bear
