  Plastic bins with locking lids can be an effective storage container and will help keep the toys dry and clean. Refrain from packing the plush toys too tightly, which can result in damage to the fur and distorting the animals' shape. Avoid overfilling containers. The lids should fit securely to keep water, dust, insects and allergens out. Bins can be stored and stacked in the attic, garage or basement for safe keeping.

  Cardboard boxes may be used, but should be stored in a closet or cabinet to prevent water and mold damage. Plush toys can easily become mold infested due to the porous nature of materials used to manufacture them.

  Under-the-bed storage containers are also ideal. Small stuffed animals could be stored in these bins and slid under the crib or bed, utilizing the most of your space and keeping these toys easily accessible for your child.

  Any animated or talking stuffed toys should be stored after the batteries are removed. Storing the toys with the batteries can lead to corrosion of the batteries, terminals and battery housing.

  Label the outside of the bin or box for easy retrieval later. Removable labels are ideal to identify the contents of the container and can be easily changed.

  For the toys that will remain accessible to your little one, there are several options for storage inside the child's room. A toy chest will add decoration to the room.

  Another option is a stuffed animal net, designed to be mounted in a corner of the room, keeping the toys on display.

  Additionally, shelving can be an excellent way to keep the toys off the floor but still in view. Laundry bags or hampers also can accomplish this task.
