Ideas for Organizing Stuffed Animals

Toy Hammock

• A net toy hammock can be installed in a corner of a child's room and will store a small stuffed animal collection. This storage solution would not be suitable for a large number of stuffed animals or stuffed animals that are large in size. When the hammock is installed within easy reach of the child, this storage option offers easy access for playing with the stuffed animals and putting them away.

Cubby Shelves

• Deep shelves that are divided both horizontally and vertically into cubbies can be an effective storage solution for large stuffed animals collections. The stuffed animals can be sorted into groups with smaller stuffed animals stored together, medium stuffed animals stored together, and the largest ones placed on top of the shelving unit or on the floor on either side. A benefit of this way of storing stuffed animals is that the stuffed animals are easily gotten out and put away by the children.

Toy Box

• A large toy box (with or without a lid) is a good choice for storing stuffed animals. The toy box offers easy access to the children and the stuffed animals are also easily put away when it is clean-up time. If the toy box has a lid, the stuffed animals will be out of sight for a less cluttered look. One disadvantage, however, is that stuffed animals can become forgotten at the bottom of the toy box over time.

Organizer Tree

• A stuffed animal organizer tree is similar to a clothing tree, except it is designed to hold stuffed animals. There are approximately 50 elastic bands that run along the length of the vertical pole and each band will hold one stuffed animal. This is a wise choice for storing stuffed animals in a small room where there is not ample room for large storage items. However, children must be old enough to place the stuffed animals into the elastic bands to be able to put their own toys away with this storage device.

Wicker Baskets

• A collection of small stuffed animals can be kept in a couple of wicker baskets for an attractive storage option. These baskets can be placed on a toy shelf and the children can reach the baskets for easy access to play with the stuffed animals. Clean-up is easily accomplished by placing the stuffed animals back in the baskets and the baskets back on the toy shelf.
