How to Replace Sound Boxes In Stuffed Animals

Sometimes, even with the best of technology, things don't always work. The same is true with sound boxes in stuffed animals. It can be sad, especially if the favorite toy of a child who once made noise has suddenly fallen silent. Here's how to replace the sound box in a stuffed animal.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the box out first to inspect it. Use a screwdriver to open it up. If you want to minimize damage to the stuffed animal, look for an existing seam to cut open so you can remove the sound box.

    • 2

Check the batteries. Before you try replacing the sound box, make sure your sound box is actually to blame for the problem. Perhaps the batteries need replacing. If you replace the batteries and the problem still persists then you will need to replace the unit or have it repaired.

    • 3

Contact the manufacturer. Use the Internet to locate the general customer service line for the manufacturer of the toy. Most of the time, they will be able to let you know if it is possible to replace the damaged or faulty part, or direct you to another possible place if that stuffed animal has been discontinued or is no longer available.

    • 4

Find replacement sound boxes at your local craft or hardware store. Don't hesitate to ask the salesperson for help. If they don't have it, they can probably connect you with somebody in the area who sells them.

    • 5

Contact a toy repair shop. Search online, in the phonebook or ask at a toy store. If you cannot get to the toy manufacturer, the next best thing is to find people who have encountered the same problem or similar problems with sound boxes.
