Things You'll Need
Instructions
Attach the R/C trailer hitch to the rear bumper of your Traxxas Summit according to the directions included with your model of hitch. Typically, you will have to drill several holes on the Summit's undercarriage and attach the hitch with screws. Hitches are available at hobby stores or online.
Cut a 10-by-10-inch square out of a sheet of 1/4-inch plywood with a saw.
Cut two 10-by-1-inch plywood strips. Set them on their sides, parallel to each other on opposite edges of the 10-by-10-inch plywood square. Drill three holes through either edge of the plywood square and through the plywood strips, then attach the side strips with wood screws to complete the trailer bed.
Drill a hole through each side strip halfway between the front and back of the trailer bed.
Slide the aluminum axle through the holes in the trailer bed's sides. Put the wheels on either end and screw on the axle's end caps or attach end pins.
Cut a 12-by-3/4-inch plywood strip and place it under the bottom front of the trailer bed so that 6 inches of the strip protrudes from the front. Drill three holes through the strip and trailer bed and attach the strip with wood screws to form the trailer's yoke. Drill a hole through the end of the yoke large enough to slip over the ball of the Summit's trailer hitch.
Carve an optional plastic foam block in the shape of your intended cargo. For example, if the trailer is intended to haul a radio-controlled boat, use the saw to cut out a shape that fits the hull.
Glue the plastic foam block onto the trailer bed. Place the yoke over the ball hitch on your Traxxas Summit and load up the trailer.
