Things You'll Need
Instructions
Lighten the chassis by drilling holes in different locations on the chassis wherever there is room. Use different size drill bits for different locations. For example, smaller drill bits can be used to drill holes in tight spaces. Large bits can be used where there is plenty of excess metal that can be removed. Do not drill to close to existing mounting holes or you will weaken the chassis.
Drill small holes in each tire rim in order to reduce the weight of the rim. Holes should be drilled symmetrically around the center of the rim so as not to affect wheel balance. Do not drill too close to existing holes or to the edge of the rim or you will weaken the wheel.
Remove the electric EZ-Start and replace it with a manual pull start. This will significantly reduce the weight of your truck. The EZ-Start can be removed by disconnecting the two wires connected to the EZ Start motor and then unscrewing the two screws that hold the EZ Start to the 2.5 motor. The manual starter is simply screwed in place where the original EZ Start was.
Replace the forward / reverse transmission setup with a forward only setup. This will decrease the vehicle weight and allow for faster take offs. Follow the manufacturer's directions for installing the forward only setup.
