How to Fix a Flick Trix

Flick Trix model BMX bikes are toys that feature all the moveable functions of their real-life counterparts. Even though you can't ride them, users must still take care of these model bikes with proper maintenance. Using the Flick Trix tools, you can complete basic repairs such as changing a tire or fixing the bike chain.

Instructions

  1. Removing the Handlebars

    • 1

Hold the Flick Trix by the front wheel, and insert the screwdriver into the screw on the bottom of the handlebars. Turn the screwdriver counterclockwise to loosen the handlebars, then pull up to take them off the bike.

    • 2

Push the new handlebars into place, and reinsert the screw at the base. Hold the front wheel as you turn the screw clockwise, to tighten the bars back into place. Do not over-tighten the handlebars, as this may damage the Flick Trix model.

    • 3

Test the handlebars by moving them to the left and right. If they are too loose, they will slide without moving the bike.

    Removing the Front Wheel

    • 4

Press the combo wrench onto the axle nut that holds the tire in place. Turn the wrench counterclockwise to loosen the tire, then remove the axle. The tire will now slide off the bike.

    • 5

Peel the tire tread away from the wheel rim to remove the tire. Press the new tire tread into place over the wheel rim. Place the tire back on the bike and reinsert the axle. Tighten the tire back into place by turning the combo wrench clockwise.

    • 6

Test the front wheel by holding the bike and spinning the wheel. It should move freely on the bike frame. If the nut is too tight, the wheel will not move. You must loosen the nut to avoid damaging the Flick Trix toy.

    Removing the Rear Wheel

    • 7

Use the combo wrench to unscrew the rear axle nut from the rear tire. Slide the axle away from the tire.

    • 8

Pull the tire up to remove it from the bike frame. The chain should still be attached, so use your fingers to remove it from the rear wheel.

    • 9

Replace the old tire with the new one, and reattach the bike chain to the rear tire. Press the tire back onto the bike frame, and reinsert the axle. Tighten the axle into place by turning the combo wrench clockwise.

    Repairing the Crank Shaft

    • 10

Hold the crank in place with the right side of the combo wrench, while turning the left side wrench counterclockwise to loosen the nut.

    • 11

Remove the bike chain from the crank shaft, and pull the nut out to remove it from the bike. The crank wheel and gear will slide off the bike frame.

    • 12

Replace the crank and gear, and remount them on the bike. The gear must be pushed into place first, then the crank second. Insert the nut, and then attach the chain onto the crank.

    • 13

Turn the combo wrench clockwise, to tighten everything into place. Test out the new crank by moving the pedals, which should cause the back tire to rotate.
