Things You'll Need
Instructions
Push a neon bulb or LED into a plastic tube, which is usually included in a complete RC lighting kit. "Neons" for radio-controlled cars usually aren't actual neon lights, though they are sometimes available. LEDs and other lights are typically used instead. Be careful not to bend the LED or the wire lead connection.
Cut a piece of two-sided aluminum tape, included in most lighting kits, the length of the side of your RC car. Stick it on the under body, as close to the chassis edge as possible.
Stick the plastic tube with neon bulb or LED onto the tape. Secure the ends of the tube with small additional pieces of tape.
Place two Velcro tabs on a 9-volt battery, and two more inside any well in the car body. Most RC cars have a large open space between the chassis and the outer car body, providing the perfect spot for tucking a battery. Attach the battery with the Velcro tabs.
Run the neon bulb or LED wires from the plastic tube to the 9-volt battery terminals. Tape the wires in place under the car body. Do not connect the wires until you're ready to race your car.
Place Velcro tabs on a toy light wand, which you can find at dollar stores or toy stores. Place Velcro tabs inside the car body and attach the light wand. Do not turn it on until you're ready to race your car.
Put Velcro tabs on a small book light, which you can get at bookstores or dollar stores. Place Velcro tabs inside the car body, in the space under the front bumper. Tape a piece of colored cellophane over the light and attach the light under the bumper.
Attach the neon bulb or LED wires to the battery terminals, turn on the light wand and turn on the book light.
