Instructions
Cut the tops and bottoms off 12 empty soda cans with electric scissors, tin snips or a solid pair of kitchen shears. Start by poking a hole where each can begins to bend inward for the top or bottom, cut around the cylindrical part of the can, then cut the can lengthwise. Flatten each resulting sheet of aluminum.
Lay four aluminum sheets on top of each other, alternating painted and unpainted sides face up. Clamp the sheets to your work surface and drill four or five evenly spaced 1/8-inch holes along one edge. Make sure the edges remain straight.
Push a pop rivet through each hole and secure it with a pop rivet gun to create half of the plow blade. Repeat the process with four more sheets of aluminum, then rivet those sheets together to create the second half of the blade.
Lay the two sets of riveted aluminum sheets beside each other so the rivets are on the outer edges. Push the two halves together so that the loose edges of the aluminum sheets overlap about 3/4 of an inch, alternating as if shuffling a deck of cards.
Clamp the blade halves and drill five 1/8-inch holes through the aluminum sheets where the halves meet. Put a pop rivet through each hole and secure it with the rivet gun.
Cut a pair of two-inch strips of aluminum and fold them over the plow's bottom edge. Clamp the blade and the strips of aluminum, then drill about 10 evenly spaced 1/8-inch holes. Secure with pop rivets in each hole.
Make a 1/2-inch fold at the edge of a sheet of aluminum. Repeat, making more folds until the resulting aluminum beam feels sturdy in your hands. Clamp the folded aluminum beam and bend a 1/2-inch tab at one end.
Place the tab of the aluminum beam in the middle of one edge of the plow blade and clamp the pieces. Drill a 1/8-inch hole and secure the parts with a pop rivet. Repeat Step 7 with aluminum sheets and secure them to the other side of the plow blade with a rivet.
Drill a 1/8-inch hole through the free end of each beam, then drill a 1/8-inch hole through the plastic of each front fender of your RC truck. Put a bolt with a washer through the beam and the truck fender. Place a washer inside the fender and secure it with a nut by using pliers and a wrench. Repeat on the other fender.
