Novus CP Tips

The Novus CP is one of the more difficult remote controlled helicopters to fly because of its tiny size and manual stabilization requirements. Anyone new to flying the Novus CP, or looking to upgrade or wanting to master 3D flying tricks, will benefit from these tips.
  1. Center Your Gyro

    • Check that the gyro is centered correctly before flying your Novus CP to prevent tail twisting and swaying. The gyro is on a circuit board, which is located at the front of the Novus CP. After starting the helicopter, the gyro is immediately centered. In order for it to be centered evenly, always place your Novus CP on a flat surface when powering it on.

    Programmable Radio

    • The Novus CP comes with a 6-channel programmable radio that allows for adjustments of the throttle amount, the hover, pitch curves and exponential. To customize the way the helicopter handles, remove the radio cover and use the knobs inside to make the adjustments. Pressing the Enter key will put the radio into programming mode and the current item being adjusted will flash on the display. After you are finished making adjustments, press the Exit key to finish.

    Collective Pitch Tricks

    • The Novus CP is a collective pitch helicopter with an idle-up switch that will allow you to do 3D flying tricks and even fly the helicopter upside down. Collective pitch rotor heads allow the helicopter to fly with the pitch of the blades, including performing negative pitch aerobatics. Some tricks and 3D aerobatics that can be performed with the Novus CP are flipping in midair, hovering upside down, the forward hurricane spin and flying backwards.

    Rebranded to Walkera 4G3

    • The Novus CP has been rebranded and current models now carry the Walkera 4G3 name. If you are looking for training kits, parts or updated information about the Novus CP, keep an eye out for items bearing the name Walkera 4G3. The parts are usually interchangeable and most of the information available about the Walkera 4G3 is also pertinent to the Novus CP. When it comes time to upgrade your helicopter, you may save money by purchasing the Walkera 4G3 instead of buying upgrades for the Novus CP, since most new parts are already included in new versions of the Walkera model.
