Blade Tightening
Before flying your Novus CP, you should tighten the blades to avoid tailspin while hovering. Tailspin is a major cause of crashes and should be avoided. The blades should be tightened enough so that when you tip the Novus CP on its side, the blades stay in place and do not move unless you give the helicopter a couple of shakes.
Motor Upgrade
Consider upgrading the motor of the Novus CP to a brushless motor, which will increase the helicopter's power and also enable you to fly it for longer periods of time. You can purchase a brushless motor at your local hobby store or online. The motor is not difficult to install, as the only tool that is required is a Phillips screwdriver.
Training Gear
If you are new to flying a Novus CP, consider buying some training gear until you feel more comfortable flying the helicopter. Training gear includes different lengths of steel legs and flybar weights that are very durable and provide for more stable takeoffs, landings and in-air flight. Training gear also helps to protect your helicopter from extensive damage while you are learning how to fly it.
Crash Protection
New users of the Novus CP frequently crash their helicopters, causing damage to the rotor blades. Avoid as much damage as possible by shutting down the motor before a crash and as soon as you know the helicopter is out of control. Leaving the motor on increases the energy of the crash, forcing the helicopter to the ground faster and causing more damage.
Flying Tricks
After you become comfortable hovering and flying the helicopter, try to master a flying trick or two. Some of the flying tricks that can be done with the Novus CP are flips, inverted hovering, the forward hurricane and flying backwards. The six-channel radio can be fine-tuned by programming it to your liking, allowing for easier acrobatics. Check the manual for instructions on programming it.
