Proper Way to Break in a Team Losi Aftershock

Team Losi makes several different models of remote control vehicles that you can drive around your yard or driveway. The Team Losi Aftershock model is a small version of a large, powerful monster truck that you can drive without worrying about destroying anything. Before you begin to use your Aftershock, it is important that you perform a procedure to break in the engine. This will help the engine perform better and give it a longer life.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the low-speed needle located in the front of the moving slide and the high-speed needle located on the back of the carburetor. You will need to make the fuel/air mixture "Rich" in order to properly break in the engine by turning these needles. Insert the screwdriver into the head of the needles and turn them counter-clockwise several turns.

    • 2

Fill the fuel tank of the Aftershock completely full with fuel. You will run through the first three tanks of the engine "Rich" in order to break in the engine. Start up the engine as normal and begin driving the Aftershock forward. You will notice that the controls are sluggish and there is smoke coming from the model. This is normal.

    • 3

Drive the Aftershock in a flat area free of hills or debris. Turn the model in a large oval pattern. On the straight sections of the oval, slowly push the throttle up to gain speed and let go as you take the turns. Let the model go through the turn and straighten out before accelerating again. At speed there should still be a noticeable trail of smoke from the exhaust pipe.

    • 4

Continue to run the truck in the oval pattern until the fuel tank is empty. Fill the tank again and restart the engine. Run the truck in the oval pattern again until the second tank is empty, then repeat for the third tank. After the third tank, use the screwdriver to turn the low-speed and high-speed needles clockwise to reduce the "Richness" of the fuel to a normal level. You can now operate the Aftershock normally.
