Things You'll Need
Instructions
Review the materials included with the kit to ensure that all of the required parts have been included. Additionally, the kit documentation will provide information on all of the needed tools and products as well as information on where they can be purchased.
Ensure that an adequate work area is available for the construction of the kit. A hangar may be required as an area large enough to accommodate the completed craft is required. In addition to space, consider if the work area has sufficient lighting and access to water and compressed air that will be needed in the construction process.
Obtain a log book to be used as the kit's build log. Any time any work is done on the kit, enter information about what was done, who did the work and for how long work was performed. Be as detailed as possible in the log book as it is required by the FAA.
Photograph the entire build process as photographs of the entire process are required by the FAA. Ensure that clear pictures are taken so that the progress of the build can be immediately apparent.
Assemble the gyrocopter using the guidance provided for in the FAA Advisory Circular AC 43.13. The Circular provides guidance on how every part should be connected as well as the proper process for performing a number of repairs that may be necessary. The document is available free of charge in PDF directly from the FAA.
