Things You'll Need
Instructions
Set your video camera on a tripod so it frames you and the work area where you will be building the craft. Be sure the battery is fully charged or plugged in. Turn on any overhead lights. Look through the lens to be sure it frames you and your work area clearly.
Test the camera by pressing record and speaking in front of the camera where you would sit or stand for the boat craft. Speak as you would while building the boat. Walk back to your camera to stop the recording and rewind the tape or look at the digital recording. Check if the lighting is bright enough so you and your materials look clear. Listen to hear if you are speaking loudly enough. Observe whether the framing shows you and the work table well.
Insert your blank videotape or blank digital memory card. Place all your necessary materials for the craft at your work area. Dress into the clothing you want to be videotaped in. Press record and walk in front of the camera to your work area. Don't worry about the beginning of your recording, you can cut it out later.
Introduce yourself and the craft you are planning on building. Explain the materials necessary and enunciate your words. Do not speak too quickly. Present the foil pan to the camera. Suggest viewers use a small-sized loaf pan to pinch into a boat shape. Show your viewers your pinched foil boat.
Press a 1-inch wide ball of clay into the center bottom of the foil boat. Show the camera. Draw a triangle 7-inches tall and 5-inches wide across the base on a vinyl report cover with a marker. Cut it out with scissors and fold it in half lengthwise. Explain to the viewers that this will become the sail, while holding it up to the camera.
Unfold the sail. Cut a small hole in the middle of the triangle 1-inch from the top and from the bottom. Thread the bamboo skewer through the holes and insert the mast into the clay ball inside the boat. Cut off any excess mast at the top. Display the finished boat to your video camera.
Thank your viewers for watching this video. Say goodbye and wait one minute. Then walk back to the camera to stop recording. Always leave space before and after your video. You can cut them later.
Connect the camera to your computer with camera cable. Upload the video to your computer using the camera's software. Watch the video tape. If you are satisfied, upload it to your website or other online video broadcasting website.
