How to Attach the Excess Antenna to the Inside of the RC Body

The antenna for your RC car serves to extend the range of your car's radio receiver, allowing you to extend you driving range far enough to enjoy everything from a quick run through a parking lot to an extended race around a dirt track. The length of the antenna can be a problem, however. Longer antennas tend to snag on passing objects causing rollovers, sudden stops or flips from your vehicle. Shortening the antenna isn't an option, as the shorter antenna may not operate as efficiently. Gathering the antenna within the body of the vehicle is a viable alternative. The shorter length of exterior antenna cuts down on accidents, while having the total antenna length available still allows you to operate the vehicle normally.

Instructions

    • 1

Run the RC antenna through the antenna tube. Slip the tube up the antenna body until the tip of the antenna is even with upper-tube tip.

    • 2

Push the cap of the tube over the tube tip, securing the antenna into place.

    • 3

Wrap the excess antenna around the base of the tube. Coil the antenna so that there's about 1/8-inch space between each loop of the antenna around the base of the tube. If the coils are too tight it can cause interference with the remote-control signal receipt. Secure the loose end of the antenna to the base of the tube using a piece of electrical tape.

    • 4

Remove the screw from the antenna-mounting plate on the car chassis using a Phillips screwdriver. Place the small loop at the base of the antenna over the screw hole in the mounting plate and then mount the antenna to the chassis by replacing the screw through the loop, securing the antenna into place.

    • 5

Guide the top of the antenna tube through the antenna hole in the car body. Attach the body to the car chassis using the attachment clips.
